An interesting fusion of the javali ‘Cheli Nenetlu’ with the lyrics of Vairamuthu about a Tamil king waxing poetic about his clan’s past, this song arrives at a crucial juncture in the fantasy film. Parthiepan gives his career-best performance as a Chola King – all girth and wounded pride. Presiding over what is left of the Chola kingdom and protecting his people from severe famine has left him helpless. Now that better times are being promised, he is in a lighter mood.

Nonetheless, through Vairamuthu’s lyrics, Parthiepan sings of a time when the Chola empire shone the brightest. He sings about the riverbanks of the mighty Kaveri, of sculptors hard at work and green fields as far as the eye can see.

Jarred out of his reverie, he is reminded of reality.
