Puthu Nellu Puthu Naathu, directed by Bharathiraja, follows the story of a widow who returns to her village with her two sons, one of whom falls in love with the powerful local landlord’s daughter, leading to a clash. The film marked the debut of Napolean, Sukanya and Rudra, among others. Following this, Napolean and Sukanya went on to have a good innings in many popular movies in the 1990s.
