On Mother Teresa’s 109th birth anniversary, our song of the day is ‘Kadavul Ullame’ from Anbulla Rajinikanth. Mother Teresa was a teacher and missionary who dedicated her life to working for children, the destitute and dying. The song features a mother superior who runs Karunai Illam, an orphanage that takes in Rosy (Meena as a child actor), a child who is in poor health. Rajinikanth, playing himself in the film, visits, and she forms a bond with him. The song is composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and is one of the few film songs sung by Latha Rajinikanth. The film and its songs were a huge hit when the film released in 1984. ‘Muthumani Chudare Vaa’ by Yesudas and ‘Then Poove Poove Vaa’ by SP Balasubrahmanyam are also popular.
