Happy birthday, Karthik Subbaraj! As a tribute, a gaana song from the 2017 film Meyaadha Maan is our song of the day. Karthik Subbaraj began as feature film director with Pizza in 2012, and later made Jigarthanda, Iraivi, Mercury and Petta. He has written and directed many short films, and produced Aviyal and Meyaadha Maan, besides presenting Bench Talkies, an anthology of six short films.
Meyaadha Maan introduced director Rathna Kumar, and had as hero the happy-go-lucky light music singer ‘Idhayam’ Murali. Vivek Prasanna and the boys in the area, along with Murali, sing ‘Enga Veetu Kuthuvilakkey’ to the women around them. They imagine themselves as the handbag, kerchief and other things women use, and how great it would be stick around them. The rhythm is fun and Santhosh Narayanan, known for gaana songs, is at his best.
