Madras city was founded on this day in 1639, and Madras Day is celebrated today with performances, exhibitions and fests organised across the city. This year marks the 380th year since its inception. Our song of the day is ‘Chennai City Gangsta’ from Vanakkam Chennai, the Anirudh Ravichander composition that released in 2013 as a tribute to life in Chennai, and is still regarded as the Chennai anthem. Featuring Anirudh, Hiphop Aadhi, who also wrote the lyrics, Hard Kaur and also a country chicken, this song was performed and shot spontaneously with no rehearsals, and edited by TS Suresh.
