Today marks 50 years since NASA’s Apollo 11 mission saw Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin land on the moon. As the world celebrates today, our song of the day is ‘Chandiranai Thottadhu Yaar’ from Ratchagan (1997), and as the lyrics go, many lovers and poets touched the moon much before Armstrong did. Starring Sushmita Sen and Nagarjuna, the super-hit composition by Rahman is sung by Hariharan and Sujatha Mohan, set to Vairamuthu’s lyrics. This was the most expensive Indian film when it released, and also marked Nagarjuna’s Tamil debut.
