Happy birthday, Saranya Ponvannan. As a tribute, our song of the day is ‘Aararirao’ from Raam, the film about the mother-son relationship starring her and Jiiva. Saranya made her entry into Kollywood as the lead actor in Nayagan in 1987. After a break she made her comeback in the role of a mother for the first time in 2003. Some of her best films later were Raam (2005) and Thenmerku Paruvakaattru (2010). She was central to these film and played a very relateable mother on screen.
Raam was shot in Kodaikanal. Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja collaborated with director Ameer after their previous film Mounam Pesiyadhae. Jiiva arrived on the Tamil cinema scene with this film. After a long gap, Yesudoss rendered a song. His voice combined with the neat lyrics and instrumentation makes the song a pleasure to listen to.
