The satellite rights of Jr. NTR’s upcoming film Janatha Garage has been sold to MAA TV. It is said to have been bought for Rs 12.5 crores including service tax – the highest amount that a Jr NTR’s film has fetched so far. It’s also one of the highest amounts ever that a TV channel has spent over rights of a film that’s still in production.
Janatha Garage stars NTR, Samantha and Nithya Menen in lead roles, and Mohanlal will be seen in an important role. Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan is playing the role of Mohanlal’s son and Jr. NTR’s cousin. This movie is said to be a family drama, and it deals with the issues between two cousins. Most of the film was shot in Hyderabad and Mumbai, with few portions shot in Chennai and Kerala.

The teaser of the film was released on Eid and went viral soon after. The film will see a simultaneous, dubbed release in Malayalam. Mohanlal is stepping into Tollywood this year with films like Manamantha and Janatha Garage. He will also sub for himself in Telugu in these two films. Director Koratala Siva, who earlier delivered successful films like Mirchi and Srimanthudu is directing this film and, Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music. Janatha Garage is expected to release in the first week of September.
