Telugu Actresses Slam Rakul Preet Singh For Saying Casting Couch Doesn’t Exist In Tollywood

Rakul Preet Singh, Lakshmi Manchu At Telugu Movie Artist Association Meet

Rakul Preet Singh is receiving a lot of backlash for her rather innocuous comment. At a time when actresses are calling out the harassment and discrimination that they have faced, Rakul Preet at an event held by the Movie Artists Association said that she never had to face issues as far as casting couch is concerned. She further said that in the four to five years that she has worked in the Telugu film industry, “not a single person has tried to act funny” with her.

Reacting to her comments, Telugu actresses Madhavi Latha and Sri Reddy accused Rakul of lying. Madhavi Latha said that instead of denying the issue, Rakul should create awareness. She also said that her denial probably stems from fear of losing out on opportunities.

Sri Reddy, who recently in her interview with The Times of India said “won’t rest till CM KCR puts an end to sexual exploitation of actresses in Tollywood”, also slammed the actress for her comments. She also said that could even reveal the names of Telugu filmmakers who were guilty.

Incidentally, the press event was held by the Movie Artists Association to condemn the comments of television anchor E Sambashiva Rao of TV5 News. On the show, the anchor is seen asking Telugu actor-director Posani Krishna Murali about the “brokers” and “whores” in the Telugu film industry.

Since then many actors and actresses have slammed the anchor who  later apologised for his comments.
