Director Sankalp Reddy, who made a sensational debut with his National Award-winning film Ghazi, has announced the release date for his next venture, a space thriller with Varun Tej. The film is set to release worldwide on December 21 this year.
A source close to the production unit told The Times Of India that as the film is a space drama, there is a lot of focus on the visuals; the audience will get to see unprecedented action scenes set in space. Experts from Hollywood have been brought on board for a few key sequences. Varun has performed some daring stunts, a departure from his regular onscreen avatar, the source added.
Two schedules of the film have already wrapped up while the third will be shot soon.
A report in Pink Villa quoted producer Rajeev Reddy as saying that Varun and the director would soon head to Kazakhstan; Varun plays an astronaut and will have to go through a month-long training in zero gravity conditions.
There are speculations that the film will have two heroines -Aditi Rao Hydari and Lavanya Tripathi – but an earlier report said that Lavanya will essay a cameo as Varun’s love interest, whom he thinks of when in space.
The film also stars Satyadev and Srinivas Avasarala in supporting roles. The film is produced by Rajeev Reddy and Sai Babu Jagarlamudi under the banner of First Frame Entertainments. The yet-to-be-titled film will have music by Prashanth Vihari.

It was also reported that actor Rahman will play a major role in the film. The actor began shooting for his portion recently and it is said that he is excited about the novelty factor in this project. Though the nature of his role remains secret, he mentioned that he plays a challenging role in the film.
Interestingly, less than a month ago, Jayam Ravi-starrer Tik Tik Tik, also set in space, released in Tamil Nadu.
