Samantha Ruth Prabhu is likely to play the female lead in Telugu director Sukumar’s next starring Ram Charan. According to a source close to the project, the makers are looking for an actress from south India to play the role of a villager. “The female lead role is about a girl from a village and the filmmakers want to rope in Samantha for the same,” the source told Deccan Chronicle.

The original choice for the female lead was 20-year-old actress Anupama Parameswaran. The actress was dropped from the project last week. Reports suggest that the actress was dropped as she was not “glamorous enough“. “The team wants to sign a commercial heroine who can bring on a lot more of the glam factor to the project. As of now, Anupama doesn’t suit the bill for the same, which is why she wouldn’t be acting in it,” a source told ToI.
Directed by Sukumar, known for films like 100% Love(2011), 1:Nenokkadine (2014), and Nannaku Prematho (2016), the film is said to be an action entertainer with a strong social message at its core.
Meanwhile, Samantha is gearing up for her engagement with fellow actor Naga Chaithanya.
