Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya has reportedly joined the cast of Mahanati, where he is likely to play the role of his grandfather, Akkineni Nageswara Rao. According to The Times of India, Chaitanya has agreed to allot two days for shooting his scenes.
The film is a biopic on late actress Savitri. ANR and Savitri had done several films together in the 50s and 60s including Devadasu, Navaratri, Velugu Needali, to name a few.
Narrating the life of South Indian actress Savitri, the film stars Keerthy Suresh in the lead. Dulquer Salmaan also appears in the movie as ‘Kadhal Mannan’ Gemini Ganesan. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin, who previously made the movie Yevade Subramanyam.
Apart from the two leads, the cast also includes Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Mohan Babu and Vijay Deverakonda.
