Charmme Kaur’s Father Says She Has Nothing To Do With The Drug Racket

Telugu actress Charmme Kaur’s father Deep Singh Uppal has clarified that that his daughter has nothing to do with the drug racket recently unearthed in Hyderabad. Charmme, along with a few other film personalities, were sent notices last week to appear for questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the enforcement wing of the excise and prohibition department.

Charmme has been working since the age of 13. “She would not have  this longevity… if she is involved in such illegal activities. It is her hard work and dedication that have brought her this far,” he said. He added that the actress has been taking care of the entire family since she started working, and continues to be a strong pillar of support. “My wife is very disturbed  as her daughter is being accused of something she is not involved in. She is heartbroken,” Deep Singh Uppal  told Deccan Chronicle.

He also implored the media to let her be and get their facts right. “Charmme is not into all this, and is focussing on her film Paisa Vasool. I am also a dear friend of Puri (Jagannadh), who is a gem of a person.” They will be given a clean chit soon, he said.

The others who received the notices are Puri Jagannadh, P Navdeep, Tarun Kumar, A Tanish, P Subbaraju, Mumait Khan, cinematographer Shyam K Naidu, singer Ananda Krishna Nandu and art director Chinna N Dharmarao. Actor Ravi Teja, too, is reportedly under the scanner, because of his recently-deceased brother Bharath’s run-ins with drugs and the police in the past.
