Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja of Aaranya Kaandam fame, is in talks with actors Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil for his next project. When contacted, the director neither confirmed nor denied the news. “Nothing is confirmed or official yet. I am in discussions with people, and there’s nothing more to add to it” he said.
Aaranya Kaandam, a neo-noir gangster film is considered to be a cult classic in Tamil cinema. It had Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Sampath Raj and Guru Somasundaram in pivotal roles. The film received great appreciation after it’s theatrical release. The film also won two National Awards: one for Best Editing and another for Best First Film of a Director. Aaranya Kaandam appeared on many top ten or top five lists of the best films of 2011.
Fahadh Faasil, one of the top actors in Malayalm cinema today is set to make his Tamil debut as an antagonist in Mohan Raja’s next film with Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara. Vijay Sethupathi who is completing the shoot of K V Anand’s Kavan, has three other projects in his pipeline: Vikram Vedha, an untitled project directed by Panneerselvam and one by C Premkumar.
