Sijaa Rose: Rekka’s Mala Akka Role Got Me Bairavaa

Sija Rose feels that her performance as Mala Akka in Rekka fetched her a role in Bairavaa. The actress played Vijay Sethupathi’s childhood sweetheart in the film. “When Rekka director Rathina Shiva told me about the role, I admit I felt a little hesitant. I was not sure how the audience would accept my character since its a small role. But the reviews have made me feel so much better about my decision to be part of the film,” Sija told Silverscreen.

The offer of a role in Bairavaa only made her like her decision even better. “Vijay sir was so appreciative of my work in Rekka. He took the time to discuss my acting in Kannamma song and even gave me pointers. It sure was a surreal experience,” she said.

While Sija remains tight-lipped about her role in Bairavaa, she did reveal that it would ‘surprise’ the audience. “I’ve been part of the industry for four years now. I have worked in several films, and yet I haven’t reached the place I wanted to be in four years ago. But with Rekka and Bairavaa,  I feel like I’ve got a solid start. Working in such big films is definitely a boost to my career,” she said.

Sija Rose made her Tamil debut with Kozhi Koovuthu (2012). She followed it up with roles in films such as Masani, Madhavanum Malarvizhiyum. After a stint as an Assistant Director for Traffic, and Mili, Sija Rose appeared in supporting roles in Ennu Ninte Moideen, Annayum Rasoolum etc.
