Actress Anaika Soti will play a sex worker in Atharvaa’s Semma Bodha Aagatha. Speaking to Silverscreen.in, she said, “I’ve been looking out for a challenging role ever since Kaaviya Thalaivan released, and I think this one is it. My character is bold and glamorous, as her work demands. She is also a very strong and straightforward woman. My character will be a surprise to everybody, I feel.”
The actress made her Tamil debut in Kaaviya Thalaivan, playing Siddharth’s naïve girlfriend. She was introduced by director Ram Gopal Varma, with whom she has done two films so far – Sathya 2 and 365 Days. Director Badri said that Anaika’s role would be a pivotal one, and praised her for agreeing to do a role many actresses would have shied away from. “Anaika wanted to take it up as soon as she heard the story narration. I feel it is brave on her part to accept this role.”

Despite the title’s reference to intoxication, Atharvaa says the film would not be endorsing alcohol consumption, “Contrary to the title, it is quite a positive film and we do not endorse drinking. It’s going to be a different film for me as an actor. And as a producer, I am excited. The film would be a complete entertainer. When Badri told me the script, I wanted to do it and said ‘yes’ immediately. Badri and I already have worked together in Baana Kaathadi. After that, we wanted to actually team up, but that didn’t happen.”
Apart from playing the male lead, Atharvaa’s Kickass Productions will also produce the project. Actress Mishti, who debuted with Subhash Ghai’s Kaanchi, plays the other female lead in the production. Actors Karunakaran and John Vijay will also have important roles in the project.
