The press meet of Sakalakalavallavan was quite like the teaser of the film. Colorful and peppy, all thanks to the leading ladies of the film, Trisha and Anjali. Trisha was dressed in a pink embellished crop-top and grey dhoti-pants while Anjali looked pretty in a red animal-print dress.

The songs of the film were screened, and they were a mix of Thaman’s Telugu hits from films like Dookudu, Race Gurram, Baadshah etc.

Sakalakalavallavan or Appatakkar? The confusion caused by the name change did not spare the film crew either. They were alternating between the two names, and producer Muralidharan thanked AVM productions for letting them use the title Sakalakalavallavan.

The story behind the title change, though, is a mildly interesting one. Appatakkar apparently means ‘The one who knows everything’. But it is a Sanskrit (!) word, and that prompted the name change.

Actress Trisha was delighted that she was doing a character which is ‘arrogant and stubborn’, amidst all the comedy in the film. She added that she loves doing multi-starrer films, contrary to what was being said about her. There was also a ball on the sets, and actress Anjali – in a friendly tussle for the ball – broke Soori’s iPhone.

“He wanted to upgrade to iPhone 6 anyway,” she shrugged later.

Director Suraj admitted that Sakalakalavallavan will have his trademark ‘action-masala-comedy’ flavours, along with the father-son sentiment. He specially thanked actor Vivek for tonsuring his head for the film. Suraj also generously took the blame for the songs as apparently he was the one who wanted the exact Telugu tunes to be used in the film.

Jayam Ravi then commented that Trisha was one of his best friends, and that he was happy to work with her again in their third film together. He added that the movie is a humourous take on the faltering marriages of today. When a journalist said that a certain dialogue (roughly translated as ‘a man and a woman cannot be happy together’) could disappoint family audiences, especially women, the actor responded that the movie will address the ‘issue’ mentioned in that particular dialogue.
