Wishing Dhanush on the release of Vada Chennai, actor Silambarasan on Thursday said that the two actors will continue their on-screen competition. Simbu also requested his fans to avoid conflicts on social media and support good films.
As per a Thanthi TV report, Simbu issued a statement in which he said, “Hearty wishes to my dearest friend Dhanush, Vetrimaaran and the whole team of Vada Chennai from me and on behalf of all my fans. We will continue to compete with each other on screen, but not on social media. I also request all my fans to support good, quality films.”
Earlier, while speaking at the pre-release press meet, actor Dhanush said that Vada Chennai project first began in 2003, and the director and he wanted to work on it immediately. But circumstances changed. Dhanush also said that later the role of Anbu was offered to Simbu, and that Dhanush was offered a smaller role – that of a character called Kumar.
He said, “After Aadukalam, Vetrimaaran and I wanted to begin work again on Vada Chennai. But Vetrimaaran wanted a break because we were working back to back on films. One day the director called me to tell he was going to make Vada Chennai with Simbu. I said “If I don’t see myself in the film, I can see Simbu in it.” He then asked me if I wanted to perform a character similar to one performed by Ameer – called Kumar. The director said it is a strong character and you should do it. That is, the character of Anbu will be played by Simbu, and Kumar – who appears for 30-40 minutes in the film, will be played by me. I said that while I am generous, I am not that generous and would like to drop out of the film. But for many reasons that didn’t take off. It wouldn’t have been right on my part to do the same film, so we (Vetrimaaran and Dhanush) decided to work on other films. We also discussed many other scripts all of which could have made great films. In between Vetrimaaran went off to make Visaranai. The Vada Chennai journey which started in 2003, came full circle back to me.”

Directed by Vetrimaaran, staring Dhanush in the lead, Vada Chennai also stars Aishwarya Rajesh, Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, Ameer, Daniel Balaji, Kishore, Karunas, Radha Ravi, Cheenu Mohan and others.
On the work front, Simbu has recently signed a new film with Gautham Vasudev Menon, while he has also signed on for the Tamil remake of Attarintiki Daredi, directed by Sundar C with Catherine Tresa as the female lead.
Whereas, Dhanush is awaiting the release of much delayed Enai Nokki Paayum Thota with Gautham Menon, Maari 2 with Balaji Mohan, French-English comedy drama The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. He also plays the lead in two of his own directorial ventures – one with Kalaipuli S Thanu and the other with Sri Thenandal Films.
