Vijay’s next film, directed by Atlee, will release on Diwali 2017. The film’s lead cast includes Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, and Nithya Menen. With music by AR Rahman, it has the distinction of being Thenandal Film’s 100th project.

According to a representative, the film is an action entertainer that will see Vijay returning to his roots: “This will be a milestone film for all involved. We have huge talents like AR Rahman, Vijay, Samantha, Kajal and Nithya, so the film is a promising action entertainer that will see Vijay going back to his roots in a way that is sure to get the attention of people who aren’t his fans as well.”
The audio launch of the film will be held in August this year. The film went into production early this year, and has rapidly progressed towards completion. Vijay has three roles in the film.
The first look will be released on June 22, at which time the official title will also be announced. According to reports, it may be titled Moondru Mugam.
