Filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar, the father of Kollywood actor Vijay, recently said that Vijay had plans to enter politics even before Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, according to The Indian Express.
“As a father, I wanted him to come into politics, a few years back, and we worked towards that. I again repeat, these intentions were there, before Rajini and Kamal announced their entries, but not now,” Chandrasekhar was quoted as saying. He further added that now is not a good time for him to enter politics as “two of Vijay’s seniors, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have entered politics. So, if Vijay also jumps into this, people will not be satisfied.”
He also added that Vijay’s fan clubs were asked to carry out welfare activities as part of efforts to set the stage for Vijay’s political entry.
In a recent event in Chennai, celebrating 40 years of actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth’s film career, SA Chandrasekhar attended the function and was all praise for the senior actor. He even added that Vijayakanth has been very helpful in building a career for his son Vijay, The Times of India reported.
He said that when Vijay was entering Tamil cinema, Chandrasekhar wanted him to act with Vijayakanth. “Once I called up Vijayakant and told him I would be coming to his house.
Vijay and Vijayakanth acted together in Senthoorapandi, directed by SA Chandrasekhar and the film went on to become a huge success. Vijay is currently working on director AR Murugadoss’ next project.
