Vignesh Shivan will direct Vijay Sethupathi next, according to a source close to the director. The confusion over Vignesh Shivan’s next began when the official Twitter handle of Sun TV posted:

This led to a flurry of reports that had the director teaming up with Sivakarthikeyan.
A source close to Vignesh Shivan dismissed the reports and said, “Vignesh Shivan has locked Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal script for Vijay Sethupathi, which will be his next film right after TSK. We will begin the pre-production work from this year-end. By then Vijay Sethupathi also will have completed work on all his prior commitments. There are talks for a film with Sivakarthikeyan, but not in near future.”
Vignesh Shivan was supposed to start his film with Vijay Sethupathi before Thaana Serntha Koottam. It was also rumoured that Nayanthara and Trisha would be playing the female leads. But the project didn’t take off as Vijay Sethupathi could not spare dates for the project.
At present, Vignesh Shivan is hard at work on his film with Suriya. Vijay Sethupathi, meanwhile, is filming his Jallikattu drama – Karuppan.
