Actor Kumarimuthu passed away last night at a private hospital in Chennai where he was admitted due to a sudden illness. He was 77.

Kumarimuthu entered Tamil cinema with Ival Oru Sethai in 1978. He went on to act in over 500 films in a span of over 3 decades. Some of his notable films include Idhu Namma Aalu, Pudhu Vasantham, Idhayam, Oomai Vizhigal among others. Known for his iconic laugh, Kumarimuthu was last seen alongside Vijay in the film Villu (2009). He was recently in the news for issues relating to the Nadigar Sangam. His ousting from the organization resulted in aggravation of the altercations other members had with the previous office bearers.
