After much speculation, the title Vedhalam and first look of Ajith’s 56th film was announced today at midnight. The poster also carried a Diwali release date. Despite being non-peak hours on Twitters, after the film’s publicist (Suresh Chandra) had confirmed the news, his tweet was trending nation-wide within a few minutes. The similarity of Ajith’s look in the poster with his look in Red (2002) was heavily discussed. Reportedly, his appearance in the poster is a part of the flashback portions in the film. Ajith reportedly plays a taxi driver in the film.
By late afternoon yesterday, channels like #AllSetForThala56TitleBlast and #SparklingThala56FLOnItsWay were already in the list of Top 10 trends nationwide. Suggested titles in the feeds included Varam, Saravedi, and Vetti Vilas. The Vedhalam team headed by director Siruthai Siva is currently shooting key scenes in Chennai. The film is expected to complete shooting within a couple of days. Vedhalam stars Ajith, Lakshmi Menon, Shruti Haasan, Soori, Rahul Dev, Kabir Duhan Singh and Ashwin Kakumanu.
