Thiruttu Payale 2, the sequel of the 2007 film of the same name, will release in June this year. The film will have actors Bobby Simhaa and Amala Paul in leading roles. Prasanna also has a pivotal role in the project.

Susi Ganesan, whose directorial debut Five Star was released in 2005, has not directed a film since his last Tamil release Kanthasami, starring Vikram, failed at the box-office.
Thiruttu Payale, which released in 2006, starred Jeevan and Sonia Agarwal. The film was a sleeper hit. Later, Ganesan remade the film in Hindi as Shortcut Romeo with Neil Nithin Mukesh and Pooja Gupta.
