Actress Samantha Akkineni, whose last releases were the Telugu blockbuster Rangasthalam and the Tamil and Telugu hit Irumbuthirai/Abhimanyudu will soon see two of her films releasing on the same day! We had just reported that Nayanthara will have two releases in August.
Samantha will be seen in Sivakarthikeyan’s Seema Raja and U-Turn, both of which release on September 13 this year.
The actress tweeted the first look poster of her the bilingual U-Turn, a remake of the Kannada original by the same name, and said it was a film she believed in.

The bilingual is also being helmed by Pawan Kumar, who directed the original. He is known for charting the path for crowdfunding films, with Lucia. Samantha plays the role of a journalist in U-Turn. The film also stars Aadhi Pinisetty, who has had a recent good run with hits in Telugu and Tamil, as a cop, Malayalam actor Narain and Telugu actor Rahul Ravindran, whose directorial debut Chi La Sow is to soon release. Actress Bhumika Chawla is expected to play the role of the ghost, made memorable in the original by Radhika Chetan. Rahul Ravindran will be seen as Samantha’s boyfriend – interestingly, both actors began their careers as lead actors with Moscowin Kaveri, which released after a delay.
Samantha is also a part of Shivakarthikeyan’s Seema Raja, directed by Ponram of Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam fame. It is expected to be an action-comedy-drama. The film, with music by D Imman, marks her first pairing with Sivakarthikeyan. It also stars Napoleon, Simran, Soori, Yogi Babu, Manobala and Sathish.
On the work front, Samantha also has Super Deluxe, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja of Aaranya Kaandam fame, which stars Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. She has also signed up for her next with husband Naga Chaitanya directed by Shiva Nirvana of Ninnu Kori fame; it goes on floors next month. This is the couple’s fourth film together – the actors were last seen together in Deva Katta’s Telugu social drama Autonagar Surya.
