The cast of this film though has two more leading ladies, namely Vidya Pradeep and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. While Om Prakash has been retained as the cinematographer, Yuvan Shankar Raja replaces Anirudh Ravichander as the music composer for the movie.
Jointly produced by Dhanush, Raadhika Sarathkumar and Listin Stephen, the original movie featured popular singer Vijay Yesudas, son of Malayalam singer Yesudas, as the antagonist in the role of Inspector Arjun Kumar.

Sai Pallavi who made her Tamil Debut in A.L. Vijay’s horror movie Diya that released earlier this year has a starring role in Suriya’s upcoming movie NGK – directed by Selvaraghavan.
Dhanush whose Vada Chennai is still running in theatres also has Gautham Menon’s much delayed Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta gearing up for release. He had also made his Hollywood debut this year with the comedy – adventure movie The Extraordinary Journey Of A Fakir – an American French movie in which he shared the screen with The Artist actress Bérénice Bejo and Captain Philips actor Barkhad Abdi.
Produced by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films, Maari 2 is expected to release in December.
