RJ Balaji Continues As Hero’s Best Friend In Mani Ratnam’s Next Film

R J turned actor, Balaji has confirmed that he is acting in Mani Ratnam’s next film.

Expressing his excitement over the news, Balaji shared a selfie with the director.

After debuting in Theeya Vellai Seiyyanum Kumaru in 2013, Balaji has acted in films including Vaayai Moodi Pesavum (2014), Idhu Enna Mayam (2015), and Yatchan (2015). Playing the role of the lead actor’s best friend and providing comic relief, Balaji’s role in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan won him the Best Comedian award in the SIIMA Awards held in Singapore, last week.

Balaji will again play the lead actor’s best friend, in Mani Ratnam’s film. In the lead role is Karthi Sivakumar, who recently completed shooting for the final stages of his upcoming film Kashmora.

With actor Sai Pallavi opting out of the film in April, it was announced that Aditi Rao Hydari had signed up for the film.

The film will have music by A R Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman. While the title of the film is yet to be confirmed, a fan-made poster has been doing the rounds since April, claiming that the film’s title is Kuruthi Pookal. Although the shooting of the film hasn’t even begun, the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh/Telangana theatrical rights of the film have already been sold in May.

In Tamil Nadu, Sri Thenandal Films will release the film, while Telugu producer Bandla Ganesh has bought the Andhra Pradesh/Telangana rights of the film.

Meanwhile, after Pugazh released in March, Balaji is currently working on three other projects slated to release this year including Parandhu Sella Va with Luthfudeen, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Karunakaran.
