Resul Pookutty Bags Distinguished Engineer Award

Resul Pookutty, the Oscar-winning sound technician, has won the Rocheston’s Distinguished Engineer Award for his contribution to the field of cinema.

The award, founded by the Rocheston Accreditation Institute, New York,  is in recognition of Pookutty’s ‘caliber, technical excellence and accomplishments that are an inspiration to people.’ Music composer AR Rahman took to Twitter to congratulate Pookutty.

In February 2016, Resul Pookutty had become the first Asian to win an award for best sound for documentary India’s Daughter at the 63rd annual Golden Reel Awards. In 2009, he had won the prestigious Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing for the British Production ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
