The release of Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma has been postponed to next week due to unavailability of screens at theaters. Directed by Sivakumar and produced by C Ravindar Chandershekaran for Libra Productions, it stars Kavin, Remya Nambeesan, Arunraja Kamaraj and Raju in the lead roles.
On Thursday, producer Ravindar posted a detailed note on Facebook explaining the reason behind the postponement. He said that he was able to obtain only 112 theaters across the state with barely one or two shows either in the morning or at night. Talking about the new release date, he declared that the film may release next week provided he gets an approval from the Producers’ Council. Ravindar further added that he doesn’t want to be the kind of producer who accepts whatever shows are offered, and “kills the film” in the process.
Natpunna Ennanu Theriyuma, which was earlier scheduled to release on July 20 was then postponed to July 27 due to various reasons.
This is not the first time that a film has been postponed due to unavailability of screens and shows. Last week, the release of Jyotika-starrer Kaatrin Mozhi directed by Radha Mohan was postponed to a date after Deepavali as the film had to compete with Dhanush’s Vada Chennai and Vishal Krishna’s Sandakozhi 2.
Talking about postponing the release of the film, producer Dhananjayan told Silverscreen: “Makers of small budget films come under tremendous pressure, especially when bigger films book all the screens. There are 1,000 screens, they don’t have to occupy each and every one of them. Instead of having all screens show their films, they can take two, and one can be allotted to a smaller film. Otherwise, it’s not fair; it’s monopolistic attitude.”
