The actor who met the press at Chennai airport said, “There is no objection to the stand that women should be treated equally. But when it comes to a religion and temples, each one has its own long established rituals, tradition. We should respect tradition, and not intervene in religious beliefs. I am not asking to disrespect the court’s order, but what I mean is when it comes to religion, tradition and sentiments should be considered.”

Commenting on #MeToo, he said “This movement is favorable for women and it should not be misused by them.”

On the question of his political party and entry into politics, Rajini said that 90% of the work for setting up the party has been completed but he will decide when to officially launch it.

The actor who returned to Chennai after shooting in Varanasi for Petta, said “We have completed the shoot for the film 15 days ahead of the schedule with all the hardwork by the entire unit. The film is completely an entertainment.” Rajini spoke to the press for nearly three minutes, and concluded with the catchphrase from Petta, “Petta Parak!” Earlier on Friday morning he announced that shooting for Petta had wrapped up.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Petta stars Rajinikanth in the lead. Trisha Krishnan, Simran, Sasikumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, Megha Akash and Sananth play important roles. Produced by Sun Pictures on a lavish budget, the film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of 2.0, the sequel to Shankar’s Enthiran. Made on a massive budget of over Rs 500 crore, the film also stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. The 3D teaser of the film was released recently. Rumours suggest that Petta could be shaping up for a Diwali release next year. This decision is probably to make way for Shankar’s 2.0.
