Through an official statement, the actor said:

“Any member of the fan association who is found to have indulged in an activity that spoils the reputation of our organisation will be immediately removed. The membership will be cancelled immediately without notice.”

He also said that he’d given full authority to fan club president VM Sudhakar to carry out this decision on his behalf.

On May 23, Rajinikanth’s supporters had staged protests against the Tamilar Munnetra Padai’s actions. In a protest organised by the party’s leader Veeralakshmi, an effigy of Rajinikanth was set on fire at Cathedral Road, in close proximity to the actor’s Poes Garden residence.

The party was protesting Rajinikanth’s entry into politics. While the actor has not explicitly said that he would enter politics, he did mention during the fan meet last week that if “God wills” he would join the same.

Miffed by this, fans of Rajinikanth took to the streets of Chennai, holding placards and raising slogans in support of the actor.

In Madurai, fans of Rajinikanth succeeded in their attempts to burn an effigy of Veeralakshmi. About 15 of them were arrested by the local police.
