In conversation  with Silverscreen, Parthiepan said:

“I had seen the news of me playing the villain in the film on Twitter recently. I was actually playing that role when Suriya was part of the project. But now, I don’t know what my role is,” he said.

Parthiepan being a part of Menon’s project comes is not much of a surprise. The director had expressed his interest towards working with the actor after he played the villain Killivalavan in Vignesh Shivan’s Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015).

Parthiepan and Simran Bagga were rumoured to be a part of the project when Suriya was attached to play the male lead. Suriya later decided to walk away and the film was shelved.

It took four years for the film to be kickstarted again, with Vikram as the male lead.

Suriya had even expressed his regret over having a fallout with Menon. “In order to clarify a few things, I reluctantly put out a letter explaining as to why I walked out of Gautham’s film. And I immediately regretted that decision. When I saw my letter in the press, I felt bad and I realised I should have handled the situation differently. But, it was too late,” he said in his appearance in Koffee with DD, a show aired on Vijay TV.
