“I made my stance very clear on my social networking account yesterday that I have never been against or opposed to jallikattu. I am a proud Tamilian by birth and I believe and respect Tamil culture and tradition and would never go against the sentiments of my own people, who had been instrumental in my growth and stature,” she said.

Trisha has been facing the ire of Jallikattu supporters for sometime now. Her association with PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) had put her under unnecessary scrutiny and a group of protesters walked into her sets as she was shooting for her latest movie, Garjanai. She took to Twitter to convey her displeasure.

Actors from the Tamil film industry have spoken up in support of Trisha and includes Kamal Hassan, STR.

The actress has currently deactivated her Twitter account and is said to be taking a break from social media for a while. Meanwhile, Uma Krishnan,Trisha’s mother, has lodged a complaint to the Chennai City Police Commissioner against the people who hacked Trisha’s Twitter account. She further said that Trisha is not a member of PETA.
