The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday issued a notice to Latha Rajinikanth, the wife of actor Rajinikanth, directing her to repay a loan of Rs 6.20 crore with interest within 12 weeks to Ad Bureau, the company that had loaned a sum of Rs 10 crore to fund the 2014 animation film Kochadaiiyaan.

Ad Bureau, in a case filed in 2016, had alleged that Media One Global Entertainment, in which Latha is a director, had signed an agreement to turn over the distribution rights of the film, but they were later handed over to Eros International.

Kochadaiiyan, directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth, and starring the Superstar and Deepika Padukone in lead roles, was a box office failure.
