Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who is gearing up to shoot for Shankar’s Indian 2, is being trained by an American physical trainer to tone his body.

The film, backed by Lyca productions, is expected to be made on a lavish budget. It will feature Kamal Haasan in a different look and the actor is working closely with a team of international trainers to shed weight for his role. It is said that the first schedule of filming will begin in December.

According to a report in The News Minute, Nayanthara is playing the lead, while Anirudh Ravichander is composing music.

The film is a highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian, which featured Kamal in dual roles as father and son. However, there has been no announcement about Kamal’s role in the sequel; it’s unclear whether he would return as Senapati, the father who’d killed his son Chandru in the first part.

Meanwhile, a few reports suggest that Haasan might revive Sabash Naidu, a spin-off based on the character Balram Naidu from Dasavatharam. It is said that the actor will resume work on Sabash Naidu after completing Big Boss Tamil 2. Half of the film is complete, Kamal said, after which he will work on Indian 2.

Sabash Naidu is also the first movie in which both Kamal and his daughter Shruti will be seen together on-screen. Ramya Krishnan and Brahmanandam are said to be a part of the cast. In the film, Kamal Haasan plays a RAW agent who goes to the US to save his daughter. Ilaiyaraaja scores music for the project.

The actor also announced a sequel to his cult hit Thevar Magan, when he was asked about his upcoming projects in a recent chat show. Directed by Bharathan, Thevar Magan, which released in 1992, starred the late actor Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Gauthami, Nasser, Revathy and Vadivelu in crucial roles, and had music by Ilaiyaraaja.
