Jyothika’s ‘Magalir Mattum’ Is Based On A True Story, Says Bramma

Jyothika’s next film, Magalir Mattum, is based on a true story. Director Bramma has also confirmed with Silverscreen that the film is on course to release in May. The film stars Jyothika as a documentary filmmaker called Prabhavathi, along with performances by Nassar, Bhanupriya, Urvashi, Nassar and Saranya Ponvannan.

Speaking to Silverscreen, Bramma said, “Yes, it is something inspired from a true story, but there isn’t more I can reveal. We’re currently aiming for a May release and are right now involved in the post-production work.”

Magalir Mattum, pegged as a women-centric film, is jointly produced by Suriya under his 2D Entertainments and Christy Pictures. Jyothika has dubbed her own lines for the film, and has already completed her portions. She is now shooting for Bala’s film Naachiyar. Magalir Mattum has music by Ghibran. Most of the shooting was done in and around Tamil Nadu.

Incidentally, Bramma’s 2015 film Kuttram Kadithal, which won the National Award for Best Tamil film that year, was also based on a true story. The film starred Radhika Prasidhha, Sai Rajkumar, and child artist Ajay, and was an intense drama that focused on issues related to the school system.
