Jomon T John Leaves Vikram’s Dhruva Natchathiram For Golmaal

Jomon T John, Director

Cinematographer Jomon T John has opted out of Gautham Vasudev Menon’s spy thriller Dhruva Natchathiram (starring Vikram) because of a prior commitment to Rohit Shetty’s comedy Golmaal 4. Jomon took to Facebook last week to explain his decision to leave GV Menon’s film.

“Good things come with a price and so this time I will not be able to work with Gautham Sir (Druvanachathiram) and be part of the rest of the journey with him despite trying to adjust dates and accommodate both, as Golmaal was committed much before,” he posted on Facebook.

Jomon, who has shot the teaser and initial schedule of GVM’s Dhruva Natchathiram, was immediately replaced with ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran’s son Santhana Krishna. GVM roped in Santhana as he was impressed with the cameraman’s work in the Malayalam film Two Countries (2015). Santhana also has four Bollywood films to his credit as an assistant cinematographer, namely: Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013), Goliyon Ka Raseela – Ram Leela (2014), Bewakoofiyan (2014), and Happy New Year (2014).

Currently working on Rohit Shetty’s fourth installment of the Golmaal series, the project will be Jomon’s first major stint in Bollywood. Golmaal 4 stars Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade, Arshad Warsi, and Tusshar Kapoor reprising their roles from the first three films, along with an expanded cast of Parineeti Chopra, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Tabu.

Meanwhile, apart from cinematography, Jomon is also looking to producing films. According to a Times of India report, he will be one of the producers of Malayalam director Major Ravi’s next film with Nivin Pauly, likely to go on floors by the end of this year. Co-produced by Jomon and Major Ravi, the film is based on a real-life romance.
