Actress Iniya has refused to be drawn into a controversy over director-actor Bhagyaraj’s comments about her not attending the audio launch of Sathura Adi 3500. “She is not even in the top league of heroines, and yet, she has not come for this event. Such behaviour is not good. Producers will think twice before casting her in their films,” he had said.
Iniya told Silverscreen that she was recuperating from an ankle injury, and was at home. “I was not able to attend the event. Else, I would have definitely made it. I always promote my films. Always!” As for the veteran director’s remarks, she says: “He is a senior. There’s nothing I want to say about his comments.”

The actress also alleged that she had not been properly invited. “All I got was a Whatsapp message. I did not even receive an invite. I could have been offended, but I chose to be gracious about it. I even sent photos of my injury and the hospital bill to the crew. But, they did not mention it. Because of them, I am being talked about in a derisive manner. I hope people know the truth now.”
Iniya plays a ghost in Sathura Adi 3500. The film is scheduled to release later this year.
