H Vinoth, Daniel Balaji, Dismiss Rumours Surrounding ‘Thala59’ and ‘Thalapathy63’

H.Vinoth, director of Ajith’s upcoming movie Thala59, announced today that he is not associated with any social media account on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. “Any updates on my upcoming projects will be revealed by the respective production houses and the concerned department,” he said.

This statement clarified that reports stating Thala59 could be a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 2016 movie Pink, were only speculations. An official mail confirmed that these rumours were being circulated by unverified accounts like these on Twitter:

Tentatively titled Thala59, reports emerged in March that Ajith will be teaming up with Sathuranga Vettai director H. Vinod. The director’s last film was the Karthi starrer, Theeran: Adhigaaran Ondru, which released last year.

Produced by Boney Kapoor, music for Thala59 will be composed by A.R. Rahman. Ajith is currently shooting for Viswasam – his fourth film with director Siva which is scheduled to release during Pongal. Featuring Nayanthara in the lead, Viswasam is being produced by Sathya Jyoti films.

A similar rumour began doing the rounds when Vijay’s next project was announced recently. Marking his third collaboration with director Atlee, Thalapathy63 was rumoured to star Daniel Balaji. When contacted by Silverscreen, the actor dismissed these claims as rumours.

During the pooja function of Thalapathy63, the filmmakers announced that pre-production has already begun, and shooting will officially start in January. Touted to be a crime thriller, the movie will be produced by Archana Kalpathy under the banner of AGS Entertainment. A.R. Rahman has been roped in as the music composer, marking his third successive collaboration with the actor.

An official statement from the production house read that the cinematography will be handled by GK Vishnu, editing by Vivek, and stunts by Anal Arasu.

The actor’s latest release Sarkar which came out on November 6 is still running in theatres. In spite of being embroiled in controversies, the movie has had a steady run at the box office.
