Dhanush, Balaji Mohan Wrap Up Maari 2

Director Balaji Mohan has wrapped up the shoot of Maari 2 – one of the most awaited sequels of this year. The film’s lead actor, Dhanush, and the director shared the news on social media. The film’s release date is yet to be announced.

While Kajal Aggarwal was a part of the original film that released three years ago, Sai Pallavi is the female lead in Maari 2. She will reportedly play the role of an auto driver. The film also stars Tovino Thomas, who plays the antagonist, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Vidya Pradeep, Rob Shankar and Kalloori Vinoth in supporting roles.

Prabhu Deva has choreographed a song for the film. The music has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The music composer is collaborating with Dhanush after almost a decade, the last two films being Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram (2007) and Yaaradi Nee Mohini (2008).

In the award-winning film Maari (2015), Dhanush played a fierce, morally ambiguous don of North Madras. Maari is a ruffian who loves talking down to people and whose pastime is rearing and racing pigeons. In Maari 2, Dhanush reprises his role of the eccentric local gangster. The film is produced by the actor’s production house Wunderbar Films.
