Arvind Swami and Trisha in Sathuranga Vettai-2

Actors Arvind Swami and Trisha Krishnan will play the lead roles in Sathuranga Vettai -2, a sequel to the con movie Sathuranga Vettai (2014). The film will be directed by NV Nirmal Kumar, who made Salim (2014), while H Vinoth, who made the original film will be in charge of story, screenplay and dialogues for the sequel.

Trisha and the film’s producer Manobala tweeted the news with excitement :

Along with the leads, actors Nasser, Sriman and Ponvannan will play supporting roles in the film. Ponvannan played the role of a police officer in the first part as well. While the first film was about scams and frauds that takes place in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu, it is said that the seuquel will be more urban centric.

Sathuranga Vettai starred Natraj Subramaniam in the lead as Gandhi Babu, a reformed con-artist who is forced to do one last con to settle his debts, much against the wishes of his very pregnant wife. The film released in July 2014 and went on to become a sleeper hit. The film was praised for its clever screenplay.

At present, it is unknown if the sequel will be connected to the first part in any way.

Sathuranga Vettai-2 will retain KG Venkatesh and Raja Sethupathi, who did the cinematography and editing of the first part. Music for the film will be composed by Ashwin Vinayagamurthy.
