AR Rahman performed his popular numbers at the IIFA Awards that happened in New York from July 14 to 15. The 90-minute performance was to celebrate 25 years of Rahman being a composer in the film industry.

He told ANI, “The love people have been giving me all these years has been overwhelming. It was kind of IIFA to celebrate my 25 years in the industry. I loved performing, and though it was raining, I loved the way people received it. Our equipment was wet due to rain. My band put up a courageous show, and we got this energy as the people were very supportive. I’m grateful to them.”
Singers Hariharan, Kailash Kher, Mika Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Jonita Gandhi, Neeti Mohan, Javed Ali and Haricharan performed a medley during the concert. Also, actress Aditi Rao Hydari enthralled the audience with her singing.
AR Rahman headed to New York for the IIFA after finishing up the much talked about Wembley concert. While the composer is yet to release a statement about the controversy, his sister Reihana appealed to fans to “not spread hate”.
