Amala played the role of a doctor in love with Dhanush in Velaiyilla Pattathari. Interestingly, in her Kannada debut Hebbuli, Amala will essay the role of an MBBS student. In a recent interview, Amala said, “Yes, I liked my characterization in this film and I agreed to work on the film. I have been getting offers from the Kannada industry for quite some time now. I thought that this film would be an apt script for my debut in Kannada. While Sudeep plays a soldier, I will be essaying the role of an MBBS student. We will be heading to Kashmir, Mysore and Iceland for the shoot in the upcoming months. I am really kicked about shooting in the locales of Kashmir. I am presently shooting for my Malayalam film with Jayasurya in Kerala, and will begin work on Hebbuli from the end of May. ”

Amala Paul was last seen as the mother of a fifteen year old in Amma Kanakku, produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Studios. She has also been signed on for the lead role in Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai trilogy.
