Weekend Preview: From Kadugu To Honey Bee 2

Kadagu:

First on our list is director Vijay Milton’s Kadagu, starring Bharath, Rajakumaran and Subiksha. After several delays, the movie found fresh momentum after Suriya’s 2D Entertainment decided to distribute it.

Bharath, who plays a boxer named Nambi told the Times of India in an interview, “He is the richest guy in his town and he is a boxer.Instead of going for a lean physique, I went in for a beefedup look since that’s how town boxers look like. I put on weight, and trained in boxing for a month.”

The movie has been bankrolled by Bharath Seeni and Vijay Milton himself. The music has been composed by Arunagiri and Anoop Seelin. 

Paambhu Sattai: 

Another movie that will finally hit the screens is Paambu Sattai. This Bobby Simha-Keerthy Suresh film also faced release delays. In fact, the film’s shoot was completed by July 2015. 

The movie is helmed by debutante director Adam Desan, formerly an associate of director Shankar. The movie has been co-produced by Manobala, who was reportedly impressed with the script as he joined the team. 

Sarathkumar, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Listin Stephen of Magic Frames are also part of the production team. The music has been composed by Ajesh.

Bobby Simha’s role is reportedly something different. It remains to be seen whether this film will provide the actor with a much-needed hit. 

Engitta Modhathey: 

Engitta Modathey, another film releasing this Friday, has been directed by Ramu Chellappa. The movie stars Natarajan Subramaniam, Rajaji, Parvathy Nair, and Sanchita Shetty.

Earlier, Parvathi Nair told Silverscreen that she had to learn how to make dosa batter for her role. Parvathy plays a village girl in the film. She said, “She also had to walk the fields with practiced ease, balancing an earthen pot on her waist.”

Engitta Modathey is produced by RV films along with Eros International. The film has music composed by Natarajan Sankaran and editing by Athiyappan Shiva. 

Phillauri: 

 

Phillauri has been making waves ever since its trailer released on YouTube, with over 16 million views at the time of publication. Anushka Sharma plays a quirky ghost trying to scare the living daylights out of Life Of Pi star Suraj Sharma. The movie has been directed by debutante Anshai Lal and produced by Anushka’s Clean Slate Films along with Fox Star Studios.

Phillauri also stars Udta Punjab actor Diljit Dosanjh and Mehrene Kaur . In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Suraj, who has mostly acted in Hollywood productions, said he thought Phillauri was the perfect film to enter Bollywood with. “I was waiting to work in Bollywood, but it had to fit right. Phillauri was perfect. As far as my character is considered, it is very much interesting. Working in Phillauri was super fun, because it isn’t only funny or my character is a comic, but it is weird to be put in that situation,” he said. 

The film has music by Jasleen Royal and Shashwat Sachdev. 

Anaarkali of Aarah: 

This Swara Bhaskar film will reportedly depict her in a completely new avatar.

Anaarkali of Aarah is directed by Avinash Das and revolves around an erotic singer from Aarah in Bihar. The movie found itself in the middle of a controversy as certain portions were leaked in advance. Producer Sandip Kaur is worried that the leaks will negatively impact the film’s box-office performance. 

Anaarkali of Aarah also stars Sanjay Mishra and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles. 

Honey Bee 2: Celebrations 

The sequel to the 2013 movie Honey Bee, Honey Bee 2: Celebrations is directed by Jean Paul Lal. Lal had also directed the first instalment of the series. The film stars Asif Ali, Bhavana, Baburaj, Sreenath Bhasi, Lal, and Balu Varghese. 

The sequel was announced soon after the release of the movie in 2013, but production delays have pushed the release to this year. 

The film has music by Deepak Dev and cinematography by Alby. Honey Bee 2 has been produced by Lal.
