The FCAT tribunal has directed the CBFC to issue an ‘A’ certificate to Lipstick Under My Burkha. The film was famously denied a censor certificate by the CBFC on the grounds that it was “lady-oriented,” leading to much criticism in the media.

Setting aside the arguments made by the CBFC, the FCAT tribunal has asked that the film be granted an ‘A’ certificate with “voluntary and some additional cuts and deletions”. It has asked the film-makers to reduce the duration of sex scenes. The FCAT is the tribunal that hears appeals filed by film-makers and producers who are aggrieved by the CBFC’s orders.
