Thani Oruvan success meet, which was held in a packed auditorium in Saligramam, witnessed many a poignant moment. The cast, crew and other guests, overwhelmed by the positive reception the film has been receiving from the audience as well as the critics, heaped praises on director Mohan Raja. However, the best compliment came from the director’s brother, actor Jayam Ravi, who was moved to tears while referring to the efforts Raja took for the movie.

Thani Oruvan speaks volumes about Raja’s directorial prowess, and this movie is the answer for those who said Raja could never come up with an original story,” Ravi said. The actor, visibly emotional, said, ““I have always seem my brother being happy and taking pride in my successes. Today, I can feel that he is genuinely happy, thanks to all the comments that he has been receiving for Thani Oruvan.”

“Jayam will always be my calling card, but Thani Oruvan will be a tattoo etched on my chest for ever’, he said.
Mohan Raja, who remained composed, humble and happy throughout the event, said, “I am not a very intellectual person. But I believe in working hard”. He thanked the writer duo, Suresh and Balakrishan, for he felt that the quality of the movie doubled after they joined the film. Raja also reminisced about the time he watched the classic film ‘Great Escape, sitting on his father’s lap.

Here are a few things we got to know from the event:
1. Many ‘big’ music directors rejected the movie, citing that music didn’t have much scope in a dark-thriller like Thani Oruvan.
2. Thani Oruvan was made keeping in mind the ‘well-informed youth’ of today
3. Raja feels bad when people say, “Thani Oruvan is worth the money”. “I did not make the film for money”, he said.
4. Thambi Ramaiah’s character is Jayam Ravi’s most favourite one from the movie.
5. Hip Hop Thamizha Aadhi revealed that he was initially invited to compose just the BGM. Later, the songs were scored with the elements in BGM, which was a tough task.
