The guest list for the audio launch of Uyire Uyire was so long that it took several minutes for the anchor to read them out. The movie is produced by yesteryear diva Jayaprada, after all. Hence we saw a host of actors like Radhika, Sripriya, Sumalatha and Mohan Babu attending the event. The biggest highlight, though, was Anil Kapoor. Necks craned to get a glimpse of the actor, as hoots and whistles greeted him.

The songs and trailer of the film were screened, and the guests on stage said all things good about the film and wished Jayaprada and her nephew Siddhu, the hero of the film, the very best. The fireworks began when Mohanbabu took the dais and poked fun at Radhika and Sripriya, his close friends. The camaraderie between the trio was quite entertaining to watch.

Then, everyone teased Hansika on how ‘fair’ she was. She did look exquisite, in a Soniya Gohil Saree and Curio Cottage jewellery. Not many Tamil speakers were present at the event, though. Telugu, English and even Hindi dominated the proceedings, and all of a sudden, people felt the need for subtitles. Jayaprada declared that she missed her guru K Balachander, and thanked all her friends for gracing the occasion. The best part of the event was Anil Kapoor, who saw the crowd getting restless listening to numerous speeches, and decided to keep them engaged.

“I’m all about entertainment, I’m here to entertain,” he said, before breaking into a jig on stage with the crew of the film. Yes, that was the best part of the 4+ hours that we spent at the event.
