Woman In Guntur Undergoes Brain Surgery While Watching ‘Baahubali 2’

Brain surgeries, much like what we watch in movies, are a serious affair. Solemn faces, hospital equipment everywhere, and an incapacitated patient under the influence of anesthesia undergoing a surgery. However, a hospital in Guntur begs to differ.

An operation theatre needn’t be this grim, like in the case of 43-year-old Vinaya Kumari. According to The Times of India, Vinaya underwent an “awake brain surgery”, where she lay wide awake, humming a tune from SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2. The doctors at the Guntur hospital decided to put the movie on in a bid to further relax the patient, who was visibly nervous the previous day.

“To keep her distracted we decided to play her favourite movie, Baahubali. But the surgery got over in one-and-a-half hours, well before the movie finished,” the doctors told TOI.

The woman had been suffering from a brain tumour known as cavernoma. The site of the tumour – the left sensory cortex – is the area of the brain that corresponds to the right hand, tongue, lip, throat muscles and speech area. According to The Health Site, such a case warrants a patient to stay conscious.

Recently there was a Bengaluru-based musician who played the guitar while having doctors operate on his brain.
