Will The Real Lady Superstar Please Stand Up?

Trisha Krishnan, one of the claimants to the title Lady Superstar

Trisha Krishnan has signed a couple of interesting films recently. There’s one with Nivin Pauly titled Hey Jude. Another with his contemporary, Vijay Sethupathi, titled 96

Curiously enough, Trisha is not the only common factor for both these projects.

Trisha, who made her debut with Lesa Lesa, has finally fallen victim to the ‘honorary title’ syndrome. For in the posters of her latest films, Trisha has been dubbed ‘The Lady Superstar’.

This is curious, because Trisha’s contemporary, Nayanthara, has also laid claim to the same title. The media’s breathless coverage of Nayanthara, since her so-called comeback, has been full of references that included the words ‘Lady’ and ‘Superstar’, most often used together.

And so, Trisha’s assumption of this title becomes all the more interesting.

Especially, when one remembers…

There’s always been just the one and only Lady Superstar.

And that’s Vijayashanti.
