‘We Need To Stop Segregating Films On The Basis Of Gender’: Anushka Shetty

After Baahubali, actress Anushka Shetty is gearing up for the release of her next big project, Bhaagamathie. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Anushka said that actresses should fight for better scripts and stories instead of better pay scale.

In the interview, she said that most of the films are hero oriented and the male actors have a lot to loose, which is why they are paid more.

On the relentless chatter around her weight again, Anushka said that she is open to criticism and she takes all the talks around her weight gain with a pinch of salt. She had gained weight for her character in Size Zero, said that she’s in the process of losing and it won’t happen overnight.

The actor who has been part of films like Rudrammadevi and Arundhathi said that the current trend of segregating movies on the basis of gender needs to be stopped. She added that the audience is accepting the movie because of its engaging story and not because of gender. She suggested that it’s time to develop stories that would suit the international audience as well.

The Telugu-Tamil-Malayalam thriller is directed by G Ashok and features Unni Mukundan, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Jayaram as part of the cast. Music is by S Thaman, and the film will on January 26.
